Reinier is a partner in KPMG Calgary’s audit group. He is dividing his time between audit and accounting advisory services. As a partner in audit he is responsible for all aspects of audits of financial statements and internal control over financial reporting, while in accounting advisory he is helping non-audit clients with complex accounting and reporting issues, including accounting for complex contracts, implementation of new accounting standards, transition to a different reporting framework and IPO and M&A reporting requirements.

Reinier has been with KPMG for more than 25 years.  He joined KPMG in The Netherlands, worked three years with KPMG in Melbourne, Australia, and, after having returned to The Netherlands for a few years, moved to Calgary in 2010.  Many of his clients have international operations, and Reinier has worked both at the parent company level, coordinating the worldwide audit of the group, and at local level, where he reported to the parent company auditor. Reinier is a member of our technical resource group focusing on accounting for revenue. Reinier is also a member of KPMG Canada’s Technology industry team, and leading the local team in Calgary.

Throughout his time with KPMG, Reinier has served a large variety of clients, from small start-ups to several of KPMG’s global clients, but two common themes in his client portfolio throughout the years have been Energy and Natural Resources (oil & gas, mining and utilities) and Technology companies.
