Picture this: Calgary is a landmark of tech and innovation. Our ecosystem employs and attracts people of all ages — Calgarians feel pride for their city and the foundation it’s built. Current and future generations thrive here.

This scenario is not only possible, it's happening now. Let’s start telling the story.

Calgary was booming — and now it’s not, right? Not in our shop! Every day, we experience an exciting story, one rooted in growth around business innovation and technology. From advancements in ag-tech to green energy, they are building Calgary’s future.

Calgary’s innovation ecosystem has set a goal to dramatically expand our city’s existing tech sector to create 30,000 new jobs at 3,000 new Calgary companies over the next 10 years. This aspiration represents a 10x increase in startup creation and scaling. It is daunting. And doable.

Our industry is young and it’s growing fast. Platform Calgary is opening a 50,000 square foot innovation hub in the heart of the East Village this fall. The Innovation Centre will be a one-stop place that connects innovators to the tools and resources they need, offers opportunities for collaboration and investment and provides training and programming to upskill talent. Whether you’re a startup founder or someone looking to deploy your talent at a startup, an investor or an enterprise that wants to tap into the power of working with startups, the Platform Innovation Centre will have something for you. Over forty partners have signed on to be part of this community, with more coming soon. Together, we share a vision for a city that will be a magnet for a young and educated community.

There have been many examples of success in tech and innovation in Calgary already. 2020 saw surprising momentum, breaking records for venture capital. Calgary startups attracted more than $200M in venture investment, significantly exceeding the previous record set in 2019.

They say action is the antidote to fear. We believe amplifying this message of hope is the antidote to economic uncertainty. Join us in making Calgary a trailblazer in tech and innovation.
