Getting Better with Age, New Tech Meetup Calgary Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary
Thursday, March 13, 2014
It’s almost been one year since Mark Williams, entrepreneurial leader, technology enthusiast and Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Innovate Calgary decided to launch New Tech Meetup Calgary.
“There’s tons of energy in Calgary’s startup community, and numerous organizations working together to grow and enhance the success of new ventures,” says Mark. “My goal in starting New Tech Meetup was to try and integrate Calgary’s startup, business, academic and investor communities.”
New Tech Meetup provides an opportunity to engage with others in the tech startup community, learn about the latest tech and tech companies and support or join an up and coming technology company.
Since launching last March New Tech Meetup has attracted over 450 members. Events take place on the second Thursday of each month kicking off with networking followed by presentations from local tech startups.
“The response has been incredible. Members range from serial entrepreneurs and technology professionals, to students and new residents to the city looking to make connections in the tech sector,” says Mark. “All you need is a passion for tech and interest in meeting new people. We hope current and new members will join us on March 13th to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, hear some great presentations and also thank our sponsors, Innovate Calgary and Strategic Timelines Inc. as well as welcome our newest sponsor; University of Calgary’s Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”
