The 13th Annual ARTC Chili Cook-Off is in the books with fourteen teams participating in the competition. Teams were judged on their chili and a ‘mocktail’ drink. The event raised more than bragging rights, with proceeds going to the United Way.
The competitors were judged in three categories for both chili and mocktails. The prize for the Spiciest Chili was won by the aptly named Resverolgix team, Heart Attack. Most Creative Chili went to the Government of Alberta team, La Conexion de Chili. The new category for this year was, I Want Seconds, and it was won by the Code Excellence team, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Judges, who included Calgary Herald Columnist, food blogger, and author, John Gilchrest were also treated to some refreshing ‘mocktails’ on this sunny day. The winner for Most Authentic was the Innovate Calgary Volunteer Student team, The Lone Cowboy. For Best Creation Trusted Positioning’s team, the Mighty Ducks was awarded top prize. The prize for Best Presentation was awarded to the Markit Analytics team, Bass Ackwards Mash.
Perhaps the most coveted category is for overall Team Spirit, earned by the Bass Ackwards Mash Team at Markit Analytics. The whole event had over 300 attendees enjoying all of the different varieties of chili and drinks. The teams are already looking ahead to next year to see how they can wow the judges!
