Raising Capital 101 & 201 are expert-led investment readiness workshops designed to equip equip attendees with the essential knowledge and strategies for successful fundraising. These sessions provide a foundational understanding of the investment landscape, capital-raising strategies, and best practices for securing funding rounds.
Led by Randy Stewart Thompson of Valhalla Capital, these workshops offer valuable insights into navigating the fundraising process, ensuring participants are well-prepared to engage with investors and accelerate their funding journey.
After completing both Raising Capital 101 and 201, you'll gain access to the Investor Coach Assignment: A one-hour session with a Platform Investor Coach.
Raising Capital 101 will cover:

- Governance

About the Host
Randy Thompson has been active in the startup venture space for over 25 years aserving as a company builder, angel investor, angel group leader, and fund manager. In 2017, he brought together these roles under Valhalla Private Capital. As Chairman and CEO of Valhalla Private Capital and founder of venture debt fund Old Kent Road Financial, Mr. Thompson has personally invested in 120 startup companies and funds, while also overseeing direct investing for 80 angel members. Valhalla currently manages five funds deploying over $225 million (CDN) in capital.
Since 2003, Valhalla Angels has guided its 80+ members in funding more than 300 companies, with investments exceeding $75 million CAD. While the majority of these investments are in Canada, Valhalla’s reach extends globally, with funding placed in 10 additional countries.

No there is no fee to participate. Availability is on a first-come first-serve basis.
At this time we have opened the program to members of Platform Calgary and those enrolled in other programming. The content of the program is tailored to those companies preparing to raise their first round of outside investment or better prepare for a subsequent raise.
No - once you are registered you will be enrolled into the program.
Founders are welcome to attend just one session if they are unable to make all 2. These sessions will not be recorded.
