Raising Capital 101 is the first step for founders who are planning to raise capital in the next 12 months or for those who are interested in exploring the investment process.
This program is to provide fundamental understanding to the attendees of raising funds and to set the foundation for their fund raising. The investment readiness workshops are led by an expert to give initial exposure to attendees on the investment landscape, raising capital strategies, and how to best be prepared for raising rounds.

No there is no fee to participate. Availability is on a first-come first-serve basis.
At this time we have opened the program to members of Platform Calgary and those enrolled in other programming. The content of the program is tailored to those companies preparing to raise their first round of outside investment or better prepare for a subsequent raise.
No - once you are registered you will be enrolled into the program.
Founders are welcome to attend just one session if they are unable to make all 2. These sessions will not be recorded.
Mr. Thompson has been active in the startup venture space for over 25 years as a builder of companies, angel investor, angel group leader and fund manager. In 2017, Mr. Thompson integrated all these roles into Valhalla Private Capital. In his capacity as Chairman and CEO of Valhalla Private Capital & his venture debt fund Old Kent Road Financial, Mr. Thompson has personally invested in 120 startup companies and funds, as well as overseeing direct investing for 80 angel members. Valhalla has 5 funds under management for a total of over $225 million (CDN) in deployed capital.
Valhalla Angels has led its 80+ members to collectively fund over 300 companies for over $75 million dollars since 2003. While most of these investments are in Canada, several of the investments including the funds have been placed globally in 10 additional countries to date.
